Comparison · Decision simulation vs observation

Decision simulation vs call recording and manager observation

Recording and ride-alongs are the honest way to see what a rep actually does. They also arrive late, on accounts you cannot rerun, with no answer key. A decision simulation gives the manager the same rep, in a world where the right call is known, before the real account pays for the lesson.

Where observation alone falls short

  • The evidence arrives after the deal. The account already absorbed the mistake.
  • No two real accounts are the same, so no two reps are comparable on the same bar.
  • There is no answer key. The manager grades against their own instinct, which varies by manager.
  • You cannot rerun the week with one variable changed.

What a decision simulation adds

  • A known world with a known right call, so two reps are comparable and one rep is comparable to themselves last quarter.
  • A rerun with the manager-set pressure changed: same account, sponsor change on, budget freeze on.
  • The cost of a move is visible: attention, channel wear, patience, internal capital.
  • The debrief names the loss type (no decision, lost to competitor, lost to incumbent, folded well) from the forces, the way a pipeline review would.

Use both, in order

Run the decision simulation first to see the judgment; then observe the real call knowing what to watch for. Deal IQ debriefs are deterministic and open beside the recording.

What we do not claim

We do not claim a simulation replaces watching real calls. Real accounts are the truth. We claim the simulation gives the manager a comparable, rerunnable bar before the real account pays for the lesson.

Frequently asked questions

Is a simulated account realistic enough?

The worlds are built from public-style documents and people with real jobs, wants, and fears. The friendly wrong contact, the CFO who signs later, and the stalled adoption team are all there because they are in real accounts.

Can I compare two reps?

Yes. Same world, same level, same manager-set pressure, same rubric version. The debrief shows the call and the state it was made in for each.

What does the manager see that a recording does not show?

The account state at the moment of the call: five rows for CS, five forces for AE, four PACE rows for SDR. And which pressure the rep read right or misread.
